‘Resignation’ Animation Series

A personal little project for Social Media, examining the rules of so called Gestalt Theory.

Gestalt Psychology, Theory or Gestaltism is an attempt to understand the laws of having meaningful perceptions in an apparently chaotic world. The central principle of gestalt psychology is that the mind forms a global whole with self-organizing tendencies.

This principle maintains that when the human mind forms a percept or "gestalt", the whole has a reality of its own, independent of the parts.

Publisher: Wiley - Revised edition (1975)

Johanees Itten used this insights for his own work and teaching. Trained as an elementary school teacher, Itten joined the first instructors at the Bauhaus, where he was a Master from 1919-1923.
Instead of having students copy works of the Old Masters, he encouraged them to explore their own feelings and to experiment with colors, materials, and forms.
